HomePro Spotter Instructions
1. Test first on fiber in an inconspicuous area for
colorfastness and texture change.
2. Apply HomePro to the stained, soiled area. Avoid saturating fibers.
3. Use a clean white absorbent cloth. Agitate lightly and then
blot and absorb the stain into the towel.
4. Repeat steps 1 & 2 as needed.
For upholstery or delicate fibers, apply to towel first, and then blot stains. Note: It is possible for some residual portion of the stain to remain. This will often disappear as the area dries. Filtration soiling is easily noticed on a light colored carpet and usually appears in one of two ways:
1. It can be seen as a ring around the edge of a room,
right next to the baseboard, or under a door that is usually
kept closed and fits very close to the carpet.
As moving air, carrying small particles of soil, passes through a carpet, the carpet fibers act as a filter to trap the soil - hence the name filtration soiling. Filtration soiling has nothing to do with the quality of your carpet.
Varying pressures in adjacent rooms most often cause air movement that results in filtration soiling.
For example if a small laundry room has a door that is usually kept closed, there will be a vacuum created in this room when the dryer is in use. This vacuum will cause air to be pulled in from adjacent rooms. Air will flow under the walls and under the door. The carpet will filter all airborne particles. The carpet will catch any and all airborne soils as the air passes by the fibers. Cooking oils, dust, auto emissions, fireplace smoke, cigarette and candle smoke are some of the likely soils that will be caught by the carpet fibers.
Complete removal of soils from these areas can be difficult. To achieve the best results, the services of a professional carpet cleaner should be used on a regular basis. Filtration soiling is usually considered a specialty spot because it is very labor intensive to clean.
